Biography
Kennedy leads Smart Society Capital’s global strategy, investments and advisory. She serves as Board Director and/or Investment Lead to Caban Energy (eneryg systems), Pratexo (grid tech), Separa (upstream), Prove AI (AI compliance) and Voltiris (renewable). Kenendy also co-hosts The Smart Society Show - conversations on energy and AI with global leaders.
Kennedy brings nearly 20 years experience across finance, technology and energy as an investor, operator and founder. She has worked in investment banking, private equity and venture capital throughout the US, Europe and Asia. Kennedy previously co-founded and led as CEO global enterprise software company Topia with SSC Partner Steve Black, where she led double digit global growth, raised $100M+ in venture capital funding and acquired two companies. Topia was acquired by a US private equity fund. Kennedy then ran for US Congress in California where she focused her platform on energy and innovation, and earned a 45% bipartisan vote share.
Kennedy has been recognized with numerous awards including London Business School’s Distinguished Alumna Award, Management Today’s 35 Under 35 and the Women of the Future, Women in IT, Stevie Awards and CloudNOW Awards Entrepreneur of the Year honors. Kennedy holds a B.A. in History from Yale University, where she was a Division I and Ivy League championship gymnast, and an MBA from London Business School with a concentration in Entrepreneurial Management. She speaks English and French, and is a Swiss resident and dual US and UK citizen. Kennedy splits her time between SSC's Swiss and US offices often with her daughter Fiia ("Fifi") and cavapoo Archie in tow!
Why Energy Tech:
She ran for US Congress in 2020 and realized that energy is at the heart of everything in our world. So she decided to dedicate the rest of her career to energy tech investing.
Fun Facts:
She runs marathons, does headstands and adores to jazz music. When she's not playing with Fifi or Archie, you'll find her reading classical fiction.
